Macia Named Head Of Recruitment

13 Sep

Following the departure of Steve Walsh to Everton, Leicester City yesterday appointed Eduardo Macia our new Head of Senior Player Recruitment.

Macia has worked with manager Claudio Ranieri previously at Valencia, and he also counts Fiorentina, Olympiakos, Real Betis and Liverpool amongst his former clubs as the 42 year old built up his recruitment knowledge.

He joins the club with immediate effect, and speaking to lcfc.com to announce his appointment, Director of Football Jon Rudkin explained.

‘Eduardo`s appointment follows an extensive process undertaken by the Football Club, to identify a candidate of outstanding experience that would contribute significantly to the long-term development our player recruitment strategy. His expertise and network of contacts will add considerable strength to our existing team of recruitment staff, whose skill and diligence contributed greatly to a successful summer transfer window. To appoint someone of Eduardo`s calibre further highlights the Club`s ambition to strengthen its standing in the game and to realise our owners` vision of success that is both lasting and sustainable.’

Another appointment yesterday was Ben Petty as our new assistant Under 23 coach. The former Hull City and Stoke City defender comes in to work alongside Steve Beaglehole at our new Under 23 level and he arrives from Aston Villa from their Academy set up – for example he led their group last May to the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens.

The Under 23 group this season will take part in Premier League 2, the Premier League Cup, and the Premier League International Cup – we are also one of the clubs involved in the EFL Trophy/Checkatrade Trophy trial pitting us against League 1 and 2 clubs.
